Good performance, but glass stains too easily

I™€™ve been using the GE Profile 30™€ (Model PEP9030DTBB) for a few months now. Overall, I™€™m happy with how this cooktop heats up and cooks fast and even. My main issue is the glass top, which shows water like spots very easily, so I end up using Cerama Bryte after almost every use instead of just occasionally. The touch controls are also very sensitive and can be activated by dishes or objects placed near them; I wish they only responded to fingers like a smartphone screen. Aside from those two drawbacks, it performs well.

Would highly recommend that when changing out cooktops that installer have a rubber insert handy. The dimensions, although should have been same as old, and expressed the same dimensions, it was slightly smaller. An insert took care of the problem.

Very nice cooktop & I like the 5 burners. I do wish the sound was louder for the timer & when you activate the burners or lock the burners. I do have these turned on high volume and still hard to hear. Other than that, I really like it, this is my 2nd one. The first one I had 22 years.

This is my least favorite GE product I ever purchased. When my cook top was damaged and I had to get a new one, mine had been discontinued. This one I finally choose was basically my only option. The burner configuration is awful. There is no larger burner only a two burner rectangle sync option. Heating up the burners is awful too. You have to start on the highest to get it to heat at all and then start lowering which impacts cooking. Bottom line this GE Profile cook top is not recommended. The only good feature is a button that turns all the burners off at one time. My mistake and now I™€™m stuck with it.

Dead appliance after 9 days

I would love to give this cooktop a glowing review. Unfortunately, I can't. This is actually the second one I have had installed. The first was cracked by a different workman, so this is the one I get to review. Today is 12 December, 2025. This cooktop was installed 3 December, 2025. I love its features. It connects via bluetooth to the vent and light overhead. Turn on the burner, they turn on. Turn off the burner and they turn off in about a minute. If I had a smart pan, I could control it on the cooktop via the app on my phone. The burners were responsive. I was ready to love it. Unfortunately, I tried to use it on 10 December. It was dead. Not unresponsive, dead. Here's the kicker. I have scheduled a service call. The earliest I can schedule service is 5 January 2026. Almost a month. I can't cook on my very expensive cooktop for close to a month. I'm not happy with GE or Bodewell, their so-called 'service' company.

Broken before using it once

I bought this cooktop to replace a much older GE unit. The day this was installed, the ™€œHOT™€ indicator lights for one of the burners stuck on and won™€™t shut off even after shutting the breaker off for hours and turning it back on. I haven™€™t even cooked a thing yet and now have to schedule a service call, the soonest of which is December 23rd, about a month away. I™€™m not happy to say the least.

Love that there are no knobs to clean around. Works great but sometimes we have a problem with the touch control. Apparently, as you age, your touch isn't the same so sometimes you have to touch and retouch to turn on burners.

This is day one of our use of this new 20 x 30™€œ GE profile cooktop replacing a very similar model from 2002 which still was working well but we wanted to upgrade to a more modern functional top. This one looks great and appears to function well as we go through the initial Trials of burners. It is very sleek, very intuitive, and was had for about 45% off on a Presidents™€™ Day sale. I™€™m sure we will love its new features digital wise.

We had a similar GE 30" profile glass cooktop. That one had a broken knob so the large range spot would only heat the innermost ring but it worked. We are pleased to have a fully working stove top. This product works as expected. Our original purchase date was 11/28/2024. The product showed 5 in stock/available. Then a day after ordering the product was delayed on back order. It was pushed back twice, finally to 1/30/2025. We paid for the installation, the two guys unmarked vehicle came in and installed this on 1/31/2025 in about 10 minutes. Installation costs were about $159. Wish I made that much for that little but no complaints on the actual install. The stovetop smart hq app does absolutely nothing as expected. I think I've seen better development on an old TI-82 calculator tetris. Hopefully they continue to engineer that smart app to allow setting temps and timers on each heating area independently. My wife is not at all impressed which was my entire goal of the purchase. It works, for now, which is better than the last.

I have only been using my cooktop for about a month now, but enjoy it very much. It is very easy to keep clean (no knobs!), the heating elements work quickly and I like the fact that I can modify the burner size to fit my pans on most elements. I especially like the lock feature, as my cat ran across it the first time it was in and turned on three burners... The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that I have not quite mastered the fine tuning of temperature using my finger to control the heat. I am sure that will improve with time. I like the left burners that can be joined for griddle use, although I have not tried it yet. Having five burners is helpful, as well. Very nice cooktop and would recommend it.

Only disappointing feature is the sound level of the chime. It is barely audible. I was under the impression from the description on the GE page that it was adjustable. This is not the case. Be prepared to have an additional old fashioned kitchen timer at hand. Other than that it is a beautiful and well working appliance and I hope it serves we as well as the previous GE Profile cooktop.

Beautiful countertop. We™€™ve always owned GE products and recently many Profile ones. Just had it installed Feb 2024 and noticed while I was cooking the Precision cook spot turned off (said HOT) while I was cooking™€¦it showed no levels of where I started which was about med-high. I assume I just bumped the controls. This was one of my worries as well as the biggest circle was in the back forcing me to reach more vs it being in front. I realize the design is complicated with no knobs etc but wondering how this will workout in the long run. I™€™m sure I™€™ll get use to it! So far so good!

The new cooktop has great features, specifically it has five burners and it looks great. Only complaint is that the cooktop easily smudges requiring cleaning. I™€™m very satisfied otherwise.

Streamlined cooking

We were putting in new countertops and wanted to replace a 20 year old GE electric cooktop that was still working perfectly. We thought about gas, but the maintenance of that style was very discouraging. We selected another GE glass electric cooktop with built in controls. This makes cleaning a breeze. The cooktop works perfectly and the electronic controls are perfect. We are very happy with our choice and looking forward to another 20 plus years of perfect service from the unit.

Replaced GE profile cooktop that I loved that stopped working. The new one is great! Works fine. I love that the burners cool off very quickly, much faster than the older model. I™€™m very satisfied with my new cooktop!

I previously have a 4-element GE cooktop with touch controls for 17 years. This 5-element unit is a very nice upgrade. I like the new arrangement of heating elements and the touch controls.
